At the press conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet shared: After two years of being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2022, Vietnam's tourism industry is showing signs of improvement, with many exciting activities resuming in some major tourist centres, across the country.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has actively worked and discussed with relevant ministries and branches, and reported to the Government, to be able to reopen tourism activities under the new normal state, from March 15, 2022.

This year, Vietnam aims to host 65 million tourists, including five million foreigners, with an estimated 400 trillion VND (15.72 billion USD) from tourism revenue.

According to Director of the central province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thanh Hong, the opening ceremony of the national tourism programme, themed "Quang Nam - A green destination," will take place at Ky Uc Island, in Hoi An Ancient Town on March 25. The closing ceremony, meanwhile, is slated for late December at the VinWonders Nam Hoi An amusement park, in Thang Binh district.

Spanning its year-long course, the programme features 192 events, including ten national-level ones, 62 organised by Quang Nam, and 120 others by 40 centrally run cities and provinces, in response to the tourism year.

The events hosted by Quang Nam will promote the local "spring" tours, river-based and agri-tours, Chu Lai tourism, ethnic cultures, and the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, among others.

The province, housing two of the world's heritage sites - Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary, aims to welcome more than four million tourists, half of them being foreigners, this year alone. It is making efforts to recover towards a goal of serving 12 million visitors in 2025.

The Visit Vietnam Year - Quang Nam 2022 is considered as a typical national cultural, economic, social and tourist event; opportunities to attract domestic and international tourists to Vietnam, by introducing and promoting images, tangible and intangible cultural values, natural resources and tourism products of Vietnam. At the same time, the event is expected to strongly promote tourism development linkages between localities.
