Mentioning to Ninh Binh, visitors immediately think of a land of thousands of years of history with many scenic spots and many special festivals. Among those festivals must be mentioned a festival with a very special name. That is the Bao Ban Non Khe festival.
The festival is took place in Non Khe village in Yen Tu commune, Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province. According to the traditional custom, every year on the 14th day of the first lunar month, the village organizes the Bao Ban festival.
Exciting activities of the festival are organized including: palanquin procession, naturalization ceremony, female mandarin sacrifice, incense offering ceremony, dragon dance, lion dance, singing contest, poetry festival, folk games such as: tổ tôm, chess, and cultural and sports activities such as football, volleyball, and badminton. In particular, the poetry festival is a unique and indispensable cultural activity of Bao Ban festival. This is an opportunity to perform poetry repertoire composed by the villagers
Another unique feature that Bao Ban Non Khe festival still retains is the two Dinh gate night markets on the evening of January 12 and 13, attracting thousands of people to attend with many rustic dishes with bold flavors of the countryside such as: peanut cake, gai cake, wrap cake, egg paste, millet porridge, vermicelli and sour crab soup, shellfish soup and vermicelli…
