Ninh Bình Tourism Accelerates After Seven Months: Over 18.7 Million Visitors Welcomed, Closing In on the 2026 Target

Update: 07/08/2026
After the first seven months of 2026, Ninh Bình's tourism sector continued to record positive growth signals, with the province welcoming more than 18.727 million visitors, reaching 93.63% of the annual plan. Revenue is estimated at VND 19,348 billion, equal to 96.74% of the plan. These results confirm the growing appeal of Ninh Bình as a destination and lay the groundwork for the tourism sector to strive to meet, and exceed, its 2026 targets ahead of schedule.

According to statistics, in the first seven months of the year the province received 18.727 million visitors, up 23.34% from the same period in 2025. Of these, international visitors exceeded 2 million. Guests staying at tourist accommodation establishments reached 3.745 million, up 28.6%, and total guest-nights reached 3.956 million, up 23.29%. Total revenue from tourism activities is estimated at VND 19,348 billion, up 21.8% year on year.

These results come from many coordinated measures in tourism development, from expanding tourism space, diversifying products, and improving service quality to stepping up destination promotion. Following the expansion of its administrative boundaries, Ninh Bình's tourism development space has grown considerably, creating conditions for new routes, products, and service chains, and helping to strengthen the destination's competitiveness.

Alongside well-established brands such as the Hoa Lư Ancient Capital, the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex, Tam Cốc – Bích Động, Bái Đính Pagoda, Vân Long Wetland Nature Reserve, and Cúc Phương National Park, the province is effectively tapping the resources of the Giao Ninh and Hải Thịnh coastal areas, Xuân Thủy National Park, and the Hải Lý Sea Church, along with its craft villages, traditional festivals, and distinctive ecological regions. The connections among destinations are creating diverse journeys that meet visitors' increasingly rich demand for experiences.

In parallel with heritage, cultural, spiritual, and ecotourism products, Ninh Bình is focusing on developing high-value-added product lines such as golf tourism, resort stays, beach tourism, entertainment, and community-based tourism. Golf courses, high-quality resorts, and experiences tied to local culture, regional cuisine, and the OCOP (One Commune One Product) program are helping attract higher-spending visitor segments, extend length of stay, and increase visitor spending.

In the coastal area, activities such as the stilt-walking festival, the kite-flying festival, local food spaces, OCOP product displays, and surveys for developing beach tourism products are gradually building a distinctive appeal. This is regarded as an important direction for effectively tapping the potential of beach tourism while creating more jobs and raising incomes for local communities.

To sustain growth momentum in the final months of the year, the tourism sector will continue to focus on improving product and service quality, and on strengthening linkages among tourist sites and attractions, travel companies, and accommodation providers to form multi-day tour programs. Promotion work continues to be renewed in a more professional direction, targeting each key market and each visitor segment. In the coming period, the sector will host Japanese travel companies on destination surveys, organize promotional activities in the United States, and take part in the ITE Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo, while also developing the Ninh Bình Tourism Promotion Program for 2026–2030 to expand international markets and improve the effectiveness of visitor attraction.

With the positive results of the first seven months and broad room for growth from diversifying products, expanding tourism space, and stepping up promotion, Ninh Bình's tourism sector is poised to meet its 2026 targets early, aiming to welcome about 20 million visitors, including 3 million international visitors, with total tourism revenue of around VND 20,000 billion. Beyond growth in scale, the provincial tourism sector is steadily shifting toward higher quality, efficiency, and sustainability, continuing to affirm Ninh Bình's position as one of Vietnam's leading tourism centers.
