Ngoc Well at Bai Dinh Pagoda (Ninh Binh, Viet Nam) currently holds the record as the largest well in Vietnam. The well is never dry, often referred to as the “god well” or “eye of the dragon”. The largest Ngoc Well in Vietnam is located at the foot of the ancient Bai Dinh Pagoda (Gia Sinh commune, Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province). Historically, the well was about 1,000 years old.
In the past, Zen master Nguyen Minh Khong (founder of Bai Dinh Pagoda), in his dream, was told by gods about precious water at the foot of the mountain near the temple. After that, he took well water to make medicine for the people.
