Ninh Binh has defined eco-tourism and green tourism associated with culture, history and heritages as important factors to create tourism brand for the province. The province's tourism sector is enjoying strong development. Tourist destinations have been established and developed into national and international-level ones. In particular, after the Trang An Landscape Complex was recognised by UNESCO as a world cultural and natural heritage in June 2024, the provincial tourism sector has created many jobs and improved living conditions of local people, contributing to the province's socio-economic growth. Director of Ninh Binh's Department of Tourism Bui Van Manh has granted an interview to the press on the potential and orientation of the tourism sector in the coming time.
Reporter: How will Ninh Binh build its tourism brand in the coming time?
Mr. Bui Van Manh: Ninh Binh has defined eco-tourism and green tourism associated with culture, history and heritages as important factors to build tourism brand for the province. Currently, Ninh Binh is defined as a land of wonders, and a safe, friendly and attractive destination.
We are focusing on improving the quality of tourism products in an attempt to build and develop the tourism brand, turning Ninh Binh into an international destination with higher professionalism.
Reporter: What should Ninh Binh do to awake heritage values associated with culture for sustainable development of tourism?
Mr. Bui Van Manh: We always consider tangible and intangible heritages as important resources to develop the province's tourism. In the recent time, the provincial People's Committee has built specific strategies and projects on exploiting cultural values, and restoring cultural and historical values, taking them as a foundation to develop tourism products.
We are carrying out the provincial Party Committee and People's Committee's directions on continuing to restore and exploit historical and cultural relic sites; and exploit values of Hoa Lu ancient capital and Trang An world heritage to develop unique tourism products.m Heritage tourism has been defined as a key tourism product of Ninh Binh.
Reporter: What are orientations of Ninh Binh in developing green tourism to ensure both environmental protection and green growth?
Mr. Bui Van Manh: The consistent strategy of Ninh Binh is to develop green and sustainable tourism and community-based tourism. To carry out this strategy, Ninh Binh needs to rely on three main pillars, including local people, enterprises and the State.
This strategy will be implemented in different steps. While investing in tourism we must preserve the locality's historical and cultural values.
We are stepping up communications to raising awareness of local people and businesses in protecting the environment. Ninh Binh is a typical model in ensuring the harmony between development and protecting environmental resources.
The consistent strategy of Ninh Binh is to develop green and sustainable tourism and community-based tourism.
First, local people is seen as the center of green and sustainable tourism development.
Second, businesses pay heed to preserving natural, historical, cultural factors when restoring destinations and developing new tourism products and services.
Reporter: Apart from developing green and community-based tourism, how does Ninh Binh do to develop high-end tourism products?
Mr. Bui Van Manh: We are currently creating favourbale conditions to attract potential investors in order to improve the quality of tourism products and generate high-quality and professional tourism products.
In the coming time, we will step up the training of highly-skilled human resources and promote communications to attract high-class tourists, especially those from the international market. On the other hand, we will diversify tourism services to serve visitors, thus encouraging them to extend their stays in Ninh Binh.
