Ninh Bình – Moving Toward Green Tourism and Sustainable Development

Update: 27/08/2026
Ninh Bình, a land rich in history, culture, and beautiful natural scenery, is increasingly affirming its place on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world. As global tourism trends toward green growth and sustainable development, Ninh Bình regards green tourism as an inevitable direction. It is not only a trend that suits the needs of modern travelers but also an important solution for conserving resources, safeguarding heritage, and promoting the locality's distinctive values.

In recent years, Ninh Bình has made clear that green tourism and sustainable development are not merely an orientation but an urgent requirement for the long-term conservation of its heritage values and endemic ecosystems. This is clearly reflected in its tourism communication strategy.

On digital media platforms, videos and articles promoting Ninh Bình tourism all emphasize reducing plastic waste, protecting the limestone mountain ecosystem, and behaving responsibly at tourist sites. This content is also built into major events such as the VITM Hanoi International Travel Expo and the ITE Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo through booth design, publications, and communication materials. In addition, communication campaigns encourage the trend of "slow travel," ecological experiences, and the use of environmentally friendly services.

Beyond communication activities, many destinations, including Tam Cốc – Bích Động, Tràng An Eco-tourism Area, the Hoa Lư Ancient Capital, and Hang Múa, have implemented concrete measures such as installing environmental protection signage and using QR codes to provide information to visitors. At the same time, community-based tourism and green homestay models are being developed, helping to spread environmental awareness among local communities.

In particular, Ninh Bình has launched a number of pioneering nature conservation initiatives. Among them, the Mobile Nature Center, the first mobile nature conservation education model in Vietnam, built around a modern interactive exhibition bus, has helped bring nature and wildlife conservation stories closer to the community in a visual, accessible, and highly interactive way. This is seen as an important first step in raising public awareness of biodiversity conservation, helping shape an environmentally friendly lifestyle and responsible tourism development.

In addition, the tree-planting program held as part of Forestival 2026 at Vân Long Wetland Nature Reserve has practical significance in restoring natural habitats, increasing forest cover, and creating a food source for the rare Delacour's langur population being conserved in the area. The activity has not only drawn the participation of organizations, businesses, and the community but also strongly spread the message of green living, encouraging each individual to contribute to nature conservation through concrete, practical actions.

These efforts have produced many positive results. Visitors' awareness of environmental protection has clearly improved; littering has dropped considerably; and many visitors now bring their own water bottles. Green tourism products such as cycling, non-motorized boating, agricultural experiences, and community-based tourism are drawing growing numbers of visitors. Ninh Bình's image as a "green, clean, and friendly" destination is increasingly recognized across digital platforms and in the reviews of domestic and international visitors.

With its distinctive heritage values and clear development orientation, Ninh Bình is steadily establishing itself as a leading green tourism destination in Vietnam. The journey toward green tourism lays an important foundation for Ninh Bình's tourism to develop in a stable, harmonious, and sustainable way.
