The Trần Temple Seal Opening Festival, Spring Bính Ngọ 2026 will take place from February 27 to March 4, 2026, from the 11th to the 16th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse, featuring a variety of solemn and traditional rituals in accordance with customary practices and current regulations. Highlights include the Ngọc Lộ Palanquin Procession, the Water Procession and Fish Offering Ceremony, the Incense Offering Ceremony, the Seal Palanquin Procession, the Seal Opening Ritual, and the distribution of seals to the public and visitors.

The Trần Temple Seal Opening Festival is a traditional festival of special significance in the cultural and spiritual life of the people. It embodies the principle of “remembering the source when drinking water,” expressing gratitude to the emperors and meritorious figures of the Trần Dynasty, a royal dynasty that made significant contributions to the nation’s foundation and defense. Beyond its profound historical and cultural value, the festival is also an occasion to pray for national peace and prosperity, social harmony, and a stable and happy life for the people.

In addition to the ceremonial rites, the festive activities will include ornamental creature exhibitions; a photo exhibition titled “The Trần Dynasty, 800 Years and the Legacy of Ancient Thiên Trường Prefecture”; a vintage market showcase; displays of traditional handicrafts and OCOP products; tourism promotion activities for Ninh Bình; as well as performances of intangible cultural heritage, folk games, and traditional art programs.

Notably, the 2026 Trần Temple Seal Opening Festival is the first to be organized under the new two tier local government model. This marks both an honor and a greater responsibility in terms of leadership, coordination, and organization among relevant agencies and units. The People’s Committee of Nam Định Ward has proactively developed a detailed plan, clearly assigned responsibilities to departments and subcommittees, and closely coordinated with provincial departments and agencies to ensure the festival is conducted safely, solemnly, economically, and effectively.

At the press conference, representatives of the Organizing Committee also provided detailed information on measures to ensure security and public order, traffic safety, fire prevention, environmental sanitation, healthcare services, traffic regulation, and guidance for visitors to participate in the festival in a civilized and compliant manner. The Organizing Committee affirmed its determination to hold the festival in a solemn and traditional manner, while preventing negative practices, superstition, and commercialization.

Journalists attending the press conference raised questions to clarify certain aspects of the organization and suggested improvements in management based on experiences from previous years.
