Ninh Binh welcomes nearly 257,000 tourists during New Year holidays

During the 2023 New Year holidays from December 31, 2022 to January 2, 2023, the northern province of Ninh Binh welcomed 256.941 tourists.

Of them, 11,901 were foreign visitors, a 55-fold rise from the last New Year holidays. The province earned 380 billion VND in tourism revenue.

Some famous destinations attracted large numbers of visitors such as Bai Dinh pagoda (18,200); Trang An Landscape Complex (21,800); Thung Nham bird sanctuary (10,600); Mua cave (5,200); Phat Diem stone cathedral (3,250); and Hoa Lu old quarter (65,000).

Some night-time tourist destinations such as Bai Dinh pagoda, Hoa Lu old quarter, and Dinh Tien Hoang square attracted over 90,000 visitors.

Room occupancy rates at local accommodation establishments reached 65-70%. Some of hotels even reached a 100% rate such as The Reed, Hoang Son, Vedana, Emeralda, Tam Coc Garden, and Hidden Charm.

In a bid to serve tourists safely, the Department of Tourism asked businesses, travel companies, hotels and restaurants to strictly implement COVID-19 control and prevention measures as well as regulations on environmental sanitation, and food hygiene and safety; and well prepare infrastructure and personnel to serve tourists during the New Year holidays.
