The report on the socio-economic situation in May and the first five months of 2022 published by the General Statistics Office (GSO) on May 29, showed that international visitors to Vietnam in May reached over 172,900 arrivals, an increase of 70.6% over the previous month and 12.8 times higher than that of the same month last year.

The increase in the number of international visitors in May was due to the reopening of tourism, the restoration of international flight routes and many international delegations to Vietnam to attend the 31st SEA Games.

A majority of the foreigners (87.8%) travelled to Vietnam by air from January-May.

Travel revenue in the first five months of 2022 increased by 34.7% over the same period last year. In which Khanh Hoa recorded the highest increase with 347.6%, Hanoi capital increased by 61.1% and Ho Chi Minh City only increased by 0.9%.

Revenue from accommodation and food services in the first 5 months of 2022 increased by 15.7% over the same period last year. In which, Can Tho, Hanoi, Dong Nai and Quang Ninh are localities with an increase of more than 17%.
