Located in the center of Ninh Binh City, Ky Lan Mountain has its height of 60m with shape of a Kylin’s head. Northern slope of the mountain narrows to form the Kylin’s jaw and is surrounded by ridged mountain cliffs and green trees looking like beard and headband of the Kylin. The site is a mountainous area nearby lake. Though being small, the mountain has five caves of which the longest reaches a height of 30m. Covered by green color of trees, the pagoda is located in the mountain to worship Buddha and Nghenh Phong Cac. Saint Mother Temple lies on base of the mountain. Ky Lan Mountain is a “hòn non bộ” (Vietnamese art of making miniature landscapes, imitating the scenery of the islands, mountains and surrounding environment as found in nature) located in the center of a fresh and green lake, a charming picture inside Ninh Binh City.
