Tuyet Tinh Coc - beautiful "oasis" in the heart of the ancient capital

Tuyet Tinh Coc, also known as Am Tien cave, is located in Hoa Lu ancient capital, in Truong Yen commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province

Am Tien Cave is adjacent to the Eastern citadel of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu and about 500m from the temple of King Dinh Tien Hoang. The cave is located quite isolately in a valley surrounded by limestone cliffs, has a lake and a mountain temple. The stone gate leading to the ancient and majestic cave brings many curiosities about a cave of wild mountains full of historical imprints.

Am Tien Cave is located halfway up the mountain. In the past, during the reign of King Dinh Tien Hoang, it  was the place to raise tigers and leopards, the large lake in the middle of the main tourist area was Ao Giai, King Dinh raised crocodiles to punish inmates. Ao Giai is covered with moss, the water in the lake is green as jade, the purple-pink gun blooms around the lake as a highlight in the immense green of plants.

Am Tien Cave is shaped like a dragon's mouth, so it is also known as the Dragon cave. You must go through more than 200 stone steps to come to the cave. Inside the cave is a temple. This is also a unique feature of Hoa Lu ancient capital. In the last years of his life, Queen Duong Van Nga ordained as a monk at the temple, taking the legal name of Bao Quang Queen Dowager. In addition to worshiping Buddha, Queen Duong Van Nga and some famous people of the Dinh dynasty, the temple also worships Zen monk Nguyen Minh Khong of the Ly Dynasty. He practiced in the cave, chanted sermons, built additional stone pedestals for Buddha worship that still remain nowadays. Deep in the mountains of the, there is a small, clear and inexperienced lake called the Dragon throat. In the cave there are many thousand-year-old stalactites. Looking down from Am Tien Pagoda, visitors will see the whole beautiful scenery of Tuyet Tinh Coc - a charming painting.
