Trains have been present in Vietnam since 1881, with more than 130 years of operation, the first railway line with a length of 71km connecting Saigon to My Tho. Through the ups and downs of history, the constant development of the country as well as changes in our country's transportation, many services for transporting people and goods have been innovated to help people's travel become easier and more convenient. For that reason, the Vietnamese railway industry is constantly improving and innovating.
Located in Nam Binh ward, Ninh Binh city, Ninh Binh station is an important railway station on the North-South railway line, one of the main railway lines in Vietnam, connecting the northern provinces and the southern provinces of our country.
Ninh Binh station was built in 1906, at the same time as the construction of the North-South railway line. The old station was previously located right under the Ninh Binh bridge on the right bank of the Day River, however, to meet the continuous development of the railway transport industry, in June 2015, Ninh Binh station was newly built, 1.35km south of the old station. The new station has an area of 6.5 hectares with 2 main platforms, 11 rails to increase the capacity to pick up and drop off passengers. Modern market ancillary items such as waiting rooms, ticket offices, cargo terminals, warehouses.
At the time before the train arrives, especially on weekends, the Ninh Binh station is very crowded with passengers, the waiting room is full, passengers who buy tickets close to the train departure time will mostly have to wait in line. To help passengers buy tickets more easily and conveniently, as well as reduce the pressure on the ticket sales area, the Vietnam Railways industry has put the electronic ticket system into operation in two forms: through online ticket agents and automatic ticket counters.
Currently, the automatic train ticket counter in Ninh Binh is the most modern automatic ticket issuance system located at Dong Gung bus station, Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist area. The automatic ticket counter fully integrates information of all train stations nationwide, allowing passengers to choose their departure station, arrival station, departure time and choose their own seat location. Information about train compartments with the number of seats, number of beds in the compartment and ticket prices applicable to each seat class are displayed specifically, clearly and easily understood in two languages: Vietnamese and English. After choosing a suitable ticket, passengers can pay directly by two payment methods: scanning the QR code on the banking app in the phone or swiping a VISA card for customers who do not use a Vietnamese banking app.
Up to now, the automatic ticket counter system has only been installed at 9 locations nationwide and Ninh Binh is one of them. If you are too familiar with the means of transport that still line up on the streets every day and want to find a different experience, traveling by train will definitely bring you a new, interesting and familiar feeling.
