Basing on the assessment of COVID-19 developments and the ability to control the pandemic in the world as well as Vietnam and Ninh Binh province, the provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to revive and develop tourism activities in the remaining months of 2021 and 2022.

Ninh Binh strives to revive tourism in year-end months

Focusing on attracting domestic visitors

In order to promptly implement measures to remove difficulties faced by local tourism firms so that they could stabilise, revive and regain  growth in the new normal in the remaining months of 2021 and 2022, the tourism sector will pay heed to attracting domestic visitors.

Ninh Binh strives to serve 10,000 local tourists in the fourth quarter of 2021 and pilots a programme to welcome visitors back from other provinces and cities nationwide.

Director of the Department of Tourism Bui Van Manh said under the approved plan, tourist destinations in the province will be reopened for visitors from November 15, 2021.

Local visitors will be allowed to visit destinations from November 15 to the end of the month.

From December 1-31, the tourism sector will organise a pilot programme to receive travellers from other provinces and cities through closed and safe special tours provided by travel companies.

These travel firms will organise specific tours from the capital city of Hanoi to Ninh Binh. Tourists must stay with their groups and are not allowed to leave arranged locations. They are required to minimise contact with people from other tour groups. This move aims to assess the safety before opening to visitors nationwide.

As for foreign visitors, Ninh Binh plans to begin welcoming them back from July 2022 when the country's full vaccination rate reaches over 90 percent of its population and the COVID-19 pandemic is well controlled in the world.

Foreign visitors must have a certificate of full inoculation or a vaccine passport accepted by countries and territories worldwide.

Ensuring safety of destinations and tourists

According to Manh, all tourist sites must ensure the safety for visitors after reopening. Priority will be given to vaccinating staff and people in tourist destinations.

At the same time, the province needs to build a set of criteria to assess the safety of tourism activities in the fight against COVID-19.

The province's tourism sector should boost the guidance and deployment of measures to safely, flexibly adapt to and effectively control the COVID-19 pandemic in tourism activities.

Applying IT and apps to monitor the COVID-19 prevention and control in local tourist destinations is another task.

In addition to ensuring the safety for tourist sites and travellers, Ninh Binh's tourism sector will continue carrying out solutions to removes difficulties facing local travel companies.
