"Tam Cốc’s Golden Season: Mesmerizing Rice Fields on the Ngô Đồng River"

Update: 16/05/2025
Tam Cốc – Bích Động, part of the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex in Ninh Bình, has long been renowned for its picturesque harmony of mountains and water. Yet perhaps the most enchanting time to visit is during the rice harvest season—when golden sunlight bathes the river, and radiant yellow rice paddies stretch along its banks, painting a breathtakingly beautiful and distinctly Asian natural scene.

The only way to truly explore Tam Cốc is by water, along the Ngô Đồng River. This gentle river curves like a green silk thread, guiding visitors through golden rice fields and three stunning caves: Hang Cả (First Cave), Hang Hai (Second Cave), and Hang Ba (Third Cave). Each cave offers its own mysterious beauty, adorned with unique and intricate stalactites and stalagmites that stir the imagination.

The atmosphere is serene and pure—at times, the only sounds are the gentle lapping of water and the soft splash of oars. It feels like drifting through a mythical land. As the sun climbs higher, its golden rays glisten on the water’s surface, reflecting vibrant colors in a dazzling display. The arching rice stalks cast their delicate shadows, while schools of perch occasionally leap above the water, adding a touch of vitality to this living golden canvas.

As evening falls, Tam Cốc takes on a deeper, more tranquil golden color. The twilight casts long shadows over the limestone cliffs, while the setting sun bathes the rice fields in soft amber light. The rice stalks seem to dance with the breeze, swaying gracefully in the warm glow of dusk, evoking a peacefulness beyond words.

To celebrate this golden season, Ninh Bình Tourism Week 2025, themed “Golden Season of Tam Cốc – Tràng An”, will be held from May 23 to May 31, 2025. Visitors will not only have the chance to admire the massive 10,000 m² rice field art installation titled “Carp Leaping Over the Dragon Gate”, but also enjoy a wide range of unique cultural and tourism activities during the festival.
